Raised in the midst of a Christian cult, Gerard is surprised when a totally normal kid comes along to a meeting.

Gerard sloped into the large church hall after his father, eyes on the floor and not daring to look at anyone. He felt his little brother take his hand and he gave the eight year old a reassuring squeeze, dragging him into the 'youth' room.

"Can I colour today?" Mikey asked

"i don't know Mikes" gerard mumbled, sitting down.,

Mikey whined but then grinned and ran away when he saw the colours out already.

Frank was sat across from Gerard, keeping his head low and hoping nobody would talk to him

Gerard didn't dare, not knowing whether or not he was allowed to even look at Frank. WHen the priest came in he sat bolt upright, along with the majority of the class.

Frank ignored the priest

Gerard didn't dare look at hiom tyhroughout the service. Right near the end he suddenly let out a loud cough before looking terrified.

"Gerard, do you have anything to say?"

"N-N-N-No your holiness" Gerard stammered out, shaking and knowing he was going to be punished.

The priest walked till he was behind him "Then why did you feel you had to interrupt me?!" he started hitting Gerard across the head with the book he was holding "You-stupid-boy!" he shouted with every hit

Gerard cowered forward and tried to sheild himself from the blows.

The priest hit him one last time "I hope you know better now" he spat before declaring the youth mass over. Frank came over "You okay?" he muttered, keeping his head low

Gerard nodded shakily "Shouldn't have interupted the service" he mumbled, standing up with difficulty and gripping a chair to try and stop himself feeling dizzy.

Frank grabbed his elbow "You just coughed though, what's the big deal?"

Gerard mumbled something and went back into the room, forcing a smile in front of his brother "hey mikers"

Mikey jumped up and shoved a picture at him "Look Geeeee I draw a picture!" he laughed. Frank was following close behind

Gertard grinend "that's great Mikes! Come on, lets go meet mom and dad" he said, sending his brtother off in the other direction before looking at Frank "You gonna be at youth club tonight?"

Frank nodded "I'll see you later" he smiled

Gerard gave a quick smile before disappearing off.

He walked into the small hall that held the youth group later that night, looking awkward aroudn other teenagers.

Frank was pretending to be invisable when Gerard arrived, shooting up to him once he did "Hey" he grinned

"Hey mumble Gerard, sitting on a beanbag near a TV blaruing on about the cults "charity" work.

Frank sat down next to him "So..." he said looking around "What do you guys like do here?"

"Oh, we have an activity when the worker comes in" he smiled.

Frank smiled "Okay then" he said lookign around awkwardly
